Hazel Boydell
Proofreader, copywriter and marketer
Hazel Boydell is an experienced production editor, proofreader and marketer. She handles production and proofreading of trade books for Talk Science to Me and also provides copywriting services.
Originally from the UK but a long-time Canadian and now living in Portugal, Hazel is familiar with many different forms of international English. She started out as a marketing assistant at UBC Press before moving into the editorial and production departments of Douglas & McIntyre. Since then, she has worked on a freelance basis for Whitecap Books, Harbour Publishing, SHARE, the Columbia Institute and Orca Books, among other clients. She has also been employed as a celebrity gossip writer and edited a specialty coffee publication. She currently edits guides to startup ecosystems around the world.
Hazel is well-versed in project management, publication support, and overseeing the editing of high-profile content, be it crafting marketing material, writing educational copy, or editing works of professional fiction. She holds a BA (Hons) in Journalism and English and attended Columbia University’s certificate program in Book and Magazine Publishing.
